Hi, welcome to my blog! I’d love to tell you a little about myself outside of Dash of Debo. I’m currently a college student at Vanderbilt University studying Computer Science and pre-Medicine. I enjoy being active with sports like basketball, volleyball, and climbing. I even used to be on the club ultimate frisbee team! I also love to explore food places with friends and generally try new things and explore hobbies.
I started baking back in 8th grade with a batch of snickerdoodle cookies. And honestly, it wasn’t pretty. I had no clue what I was doing, but that sparked me to do a lot more research about what I was making and how the process worked. That carries with me to this day, and as a bit of a nerd, I do a lot of research into what works and why. That way, I can make little adjustments and recommend where to do so for you guys as well! I firmly believe that anyone can learn to cook/bake with practice, and of course, a few helpful tips!
My specialties include: stress baking, procrasti-baking, and baking in bulk!
My parents used to joke that there would be an influx of desserts at our house whenever I had a test season and jokingly lament whenever my last test was over since there wouldn’t be any more new creations.

Growing up, I loved watching my mom cook and helping out whenever I was allowed in the kitchen. I grew up in the US suburbs, but my parents are from South Korea! My mom always cooked (the BEST!!) Korean food for us since we always lived hours away from the nearest authentic Korean restaurant. Even though I didn’t start cooking myself until recently, I’ve realized I learned a lot just from watching her all those years.
More tidbits:
I love chocolate (dark is superior!!!!) and any type of frozen treat. My favorite ice cream flavors include mint chocolate chip (my go-to), green tea, most Jeni’s flavors, and the Trader Joe’s mango sorbet and coffee tubs!
I also really love bittersweet flavors like coffee, dark chocolate, matcha, and black sesame because they balance out the sweetness a bit 🙂
Trying out cuisines from as many countries/cultures as I can is one of my personal life goals! I particularly love really bright, fresh, and flavorful foods like Mediterranean, Latin American, Thai, Indian–where was I going with this? Anyways, if you have any suggestions, please send them my way! I need your help discovering new cuisines!!!
